OUR SEPTEMBER CONCERT
WITH BRETT WALES
Brett Wales at Woodhall Spa
Brett Wales is very popular at Woodhall Spa and his performance certainly didn’t disappoint, although it was a bit loud for some.
He opened with a great performance of “1492: Conquest of Paradise” and other notable pieces featured were the Intermezzo from “Cavalleria Rusticana” a superb medley of Klaus Wunderlich music using the original Wersi Helios Organ sounds which are stored in the modern Wersi instrument Brett was playing. Towards the end of the first half he played a beautiful version of “La Vie En Rose” and also the “Dance of the Swans” from Tchailovski’s ballet “Swan Lake”.
The second half got off to a great start with “You Make Me Feel So Good” and his superb version of Rossini’s Overture to “William Tell”. Mozart was represented by “The Turkish March” and both pieces were played beautifully. He then took us through the process of stripping out the voice of Freddie Mercury singing “I want to Break Free” and playing his own accompaniment to it. The result was quite stunning. The mood changed as he faultlessly played “The Sabre Dance” by Katchaturian. All in all we were treated to a great evening of music played by a master of his art and greatly appreciated by our audience.
Our concert next month will be played by Mark Thompson and takes place on Friday, October 3rd. at Coronation Hall, Spa Road, Woodhall Spa, LN10 6PZ. We look forward to seeing you all.
