Nicholas Martin B.E.M. at Woodhall Spa
Our largest audience so far this year turned out for our Hon. President Nicholas
Martin B.E.M. and he didn't let us down. Nicholas played a superb concert covering
an enormous range of different styles of music. There really was something there
for everybody. Following his theme tune "Hey Look Me Over" he played a medley of
Marches followed by the Entre'acte from Cavalleria Rusticana" and "Meditation" from
the opera "Thais" by Massenet. There was a medley of Abba music, Glenn Miller and
"The Warsaw Concerto" by Richard Addinsell. The first half concluded with some Ragtime
with "12 Street Rag". Nick opened his second half with the brilliant "Theatreland"
March and then in complete contrast played "Gabriel's Oboe" from "The Mission". A
complete change of style took us to "Black and White Rag" followed by "The Bells
of St. Mary's", music from "Les Miserables", "The Holy City" and a medley of TV themes
which included "Last of the Summer Wine", "Emmerdale" and "Hawaii-
It really was a fantastic evening of great music covering an enormous range of styles and was very enjoyable.
Next month our concert, which is on Friday June 5th. will be given by Mark Thompson, so promises to be another amazing night of music. We look forward to seeing you all, so do make a note in your diary for 7.30pm on Friday June 5th. at Coronation Hall, Spa Road, Woodhall Spa, LN10 6PZ.
