OUR JUNE CONCERT

    Chris Stanbury at Woodhall Spa

Chris Stanbury played a superb concert for us. It was very much a trip down Memory Lane, with many medleys around subjects that would have been experienced by most of our audience.

He started with a medley of music from the Rock and Roll era, with tunes such as “Rock Around the Clock” and “Let’s Twist Again”.  Then there was an Elvis Presley medley, Big Band music and a great selection from “The Sound of Music”. Then he really took us back to childhood with tunes associated with the likes of Uncle Mac, which included “Nellie the Elephant” and other music from the radio, which included the Paul Temple signature tune, “The Coronation Scott” and he finished his first half with the music of Max Bygraves.

The second half opened with “Raiders of the Lost Ark”. He continued with a medley of 60s music, a Tribute to Dusty Springfield and a big band number with “Hot Toddy”. He then played a superb rendering of Queen with their “Bohemian Rhapsody”.. The concert concluded with another 50s medley, which included the “Juke Box Jury” music and for the grand finale, Strauss’s “Thunder and Lightning” Polka.

It was a great evening of music which was really appreciated by our audience.

Our concert next month will be given by Rod Pooley and is on Friday 4th July, 2025 at 7.30pm at Coronation Hall, Spa Road. Woodhall Spa, LN10 6PZ. We look forward to seeing you all.
